Half of a number
Half of 6 = 3. Quarter of 8 = 2.

A pizza cut in 2 = halves. Cut in 4 = quarters. Cut in 8 = eighths.

Sharing equally
Half of 8 sweets = 4 each (between 2 friends). Quarter of 8 = 2 each (between 4 friends).
