Numbers aren't just digits - they are 'keys' to solving puzzles and spotting patterns. Think about it: - Checking time on your phone 🕰️ - Buying snacks at the shop (25.50 MVR) 💰 - Checking temperature (29°C) 🌡️ - Diving depth (15 meters) 🤿
💡 Look around! Can you find 5 different numbers in your room right now?
The position of a digit tells us its value. Move LEFT from the decimal point and numbers get BIGGER (Tens, Hundreds, Millions). Move RIGHT and they get SMALLER (Tenths, Hundredths). Activity 2: Write your own 8-digit number and fill in a place value chart!

💡 Expanded form shows exactly how much each digit is worth!
1. Find the digit to round. 2. Look at the neighbor to the RIGHT. 3. 5 or more? Round UP (+1). 4. 4 or less? Round DOWN (Stay the same).
💡 Neighbors matter! They tell you if the coaster goes up or stays down.

Rounding decimals is just like whole numbers! 2.728 to the nearest whole becomes 3. 8.63 to the nearest tenth becomes 8.6. 90.352 to the nearest tenth becomes 90.4.
