This document is a thesis submitted by Farid Helmi to fulfill requirements for a Bachelor's degree in English Language Education. The thesis examines improving 10th grade students' writing skills in recounting texts by using personal letters. The study aims to determine how implementing personal letters can improve students' recount writing skills and describe the improvement in skills after the intervention. A classroom action research methodology is used with pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II tests to measure writing scores. Related literature on personal letters, writing skills, teaching writing, text genres, and recounts is also reviewed.
